300 (2006)
Directed by Zack Snyder, 300 stars Gerard Butler as King Leonidas, who leads a small Spartan force against the Persian army at Thermopylae. Lena Headey, David Wenham and Dominic West co-star in a stylised ancient-war action film based on Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s comic book series. The film combines graphic-novel visuals, sword combat, Spartan warfare and large-scale historical fantasy action.


300: Rise of an Empire (2014)
Directed by Noam Murro, 300: Rise of an Empire stars Sullivan Stapleton as Themistocles and Eva Green as Artemisia in a stylised action film set during the Greco-Persian Wars. Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro return in a sequel and parallel story to 300, with naval battles, ancient warfare, revenge and graphic-novel-inspired visuals. The film continues the Frank Miller-based sword-action style of the first film.
