Directed by Cristian Mungiu, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (2007) follows two university students in 1980s Romania as they attempt to arrange an illegal abortion under the Ceaușescu regime. Starring Anamaria Marinca and Laura Vasiliu, the film combines tense realism, moral pressure and intimate human drama while exploring fear, control and survival within a restrictive political system.
