8 Mile (2002)

Directed by Curtis Hanson, 8 Mile stars Eminem as Jimmy “B-Rabbit” Smith Jr., a young Detroit factory worker trying to make his mark in the local hip-hop scene through rap battles. Kim Basinger, Brittany Murphy and Mekhi Phifer co-star in this music-driven coming-of-age drama about ambition, class and finding a voice. The song “Lose Yourself” won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
