A Certain Magical Index

Directed by Hiroshi Nishikiori and produced by J.C.Staff, A Certain Magical Index follows Tōma Kamijō, a student living in Academy City, where scientific research is used to develop supernatural abilities. Tōma possesses Imagine Breaker, a power in his right hand that can cancel both magic and esper abilities, and becomes involved with Index, a nun carrying the knowledge of thousands of forbidden magical texts. Based on Kazuma Kamachi’s light novel series, the anime combines science-fiction action and supernatural fantasy as Tōma is drawn into conflicts involving magicians, religious organisations, espers and Academy City’s hidden experiments. The original book series establishes Academy City, Tōma’s Level Zero status and his encounter with Index as the foundation of the story.
