In Belleville Rendez-Vous (2003), French animator Sylvain Chomet crafts a nearly wordless animated adventure in which a determined grandmother travels to the strange metropolis of Belleville to rescue her kidnapped cyclist grandson from the clutches of the French mafia. Along the way, she teams up with three eccentric aging musicians whose past glory hides unexpected resources.
