Carlitos Way (1993)

Directed by Brian De Palma and starring Al Pacino and Sean Penn, Carlito's Way is a crime drama about former drug dealer Carlito Brigante, who leaves prison determined to abandon his criminal past. While saving money for a new life outside New York, Carlito is gradually drawn back into the underworld through old loyalties, his lawyer Dave Kleinfeld and conflicts with local gangsters. Based on the books by Edwin Torres, the film also stars Penelope Ann Miller and John Leguizamo.
