Directed by Gil Kenan, City of Ember (2008) is a fantasy adventure set in an underground city where two teenagers uncover clues that may lead humanity back to the surface before the city’s failing infrastructure collapses. Starring Saoirse Ronan and Harry Treadaway, the film combines mystery, exploration and survival elements within a retrofuturistic underground world.
