Directed by Rob Reiner, Misery (1990) stars James Caan as a novelist who is rescued after a car accident by a devoted fan, played by Kathy Bates. As he recovers in her isolated home, he gradually realizes that her obsession with his work has dangerous consequences. Kathy Bates won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance.
