Under filmcensurens barbariska storhetstid i början av 1980-talet var Video Invest det mest djärva och ökända videobolaget. Deras filmer var mycket värre än alla andras, vilket orsakade polisrazzior i Sveriges videobutiker. De 26 beslagtagna VHS-titlarna förstördes och bolaget gick i konkurs. Nu är filmerna tillbaka! I oklippta originalversioner och digitalt restaurerade.

Efter att en man tagits på bar gärning med att stympa lik på ett bårhus i New York väcks nyfikenheten hos en grupp forskare. Spåren leder dem till en avlägsen exotisk ö där de inte bara utsätts för kannibaler, utan även en doktor som väcker döda till liv och inte kommer låta sig stoppas. Det ska hans armé av zombies se till!

Zombie Holocaust är en kompromisslös blandning av skräck, djungeläventyr, kannibaler och zombies. Filmen spelades in simultant med Lucio Fulcis Zombie Flesh Eaters, så vissa kulisser och byggen känns igen i båda filmerna.

För regin svarar Marino Girolami, som var far till den desto mer kända regissörskollegan Enzo G. Castellari (G:et står för Girolami). Huvudrollerna görs av Ian McCulloch och Alexandra Delli Colli, kända från Video Invest-värstingarna Zombie Flesh Eaters respektive New York Ripper.


Zombie Holocaust (1980), directed by Marino Girolami and starring Ian McCulloch and Alexandra Delli Colli, follows a group of researchers traveling to a remote island to investigate reports of cannibalism and reanimation. The film combines an expedition narrative with encounters involving both zombies and tribal rituals.
