Directed by Joe Cornish, Attack the Block is a British sci-fi horror comedy set in a South London housing estate during an alien invasion. Starring John Boyega in one of his earliest film roles alongside Jodie Whittaker and Nick Frost, the film follows a teenage street gang forced to defend their neighborhood against aggressive extraterrestrial creatures. Combining creature-feature action, urban comedy and survival-driven horror, the film became a notable modern British genre production.
